kimmy creegan2Campgaw Mountain is proud to continue our racing program for the 13/14 season! This program is designed to provide a safe and fun learning environment where racers of any age and ability may reach their full potential as skiers and riders. Participants will gain confidence, self-esteem, and the ability to safely ski or ride on just about any slope with style. We offer three different types of race programs: Development Team, Race Training, and the Campgaw Race Team.

All three Team Campgaw Ski Club programs require the minimum ownership of the following equipment: helmet, ski/board, poles, and goggles.  Please visit www.teamcampgaw.com for club memberships and further information.

We also offer beginner/intermediate programs once a week with our OnEdge Academy.

Our athletes will learn in a fun and positive environment specific to their needs. Adopting an "athletes first, winning second" philosophy, along with a long-term athlete development approach, it is our goal that the athletes will enjoy the outdoors, develop friendships, and see the world as a result of their hard work and dedication. This means that athletes are encouraged to attend races throughout the season, appropriate to their age group and skill level. During times of competitions, their coaches may NOT be available for those who choose not to compete. These individuals will be provided with a substitute coach.

Developmental Program - $

Athletes must be able to at least perform the wedge, stopping wedge and make controlled turns on green terrain. Minimum requirement is to ski comfortably on all green terrain, ride the chairlift to MidStation, and come down unassisted.* (Athletes who can NOT ride chairlift unassisted must have a parent/guardian to assist them. The parent/guardian must have their own lift ticket).

Our objective is to encourage young, enthusiastic skiers and snowboarders to become better athletes while having fun. This program focuses on athletic stance, balance, flexibility, good skiing technique, carved turns, some limited training in gates, and providing an opportunity to develop into racers. All of our certified coaches teach the fundamentals of skiing and snowboarding, while encouraging the thrill of speed, competition, and developing confidence on the ski hill. Groups will be formed with other kids similar in skill and age. If the athlete can’t perform with his or her group, the athlete will be moved to another group or will need to speak with the Race Director to discuss other options.
